Christmas 2021

Update 20th December

Rising cases of the new Omicron variant is causing major concern nationally, and in particular in London. When we made our plans for Christmas the virus cases were stable and people who were vaccinated had strong protection against Covid-19. This seems not to be the case now and cases are rising at an alarming rate.

With this in mind we are having to make changes to our planned Christmas activities, and we’ve made the decision to pause all in-person services until January, moving our Christingle, Midnight and Christmas Day services online. The Christingle service will be interactive with packs being delivered to families and the opportunity to pick packs up from outside St Paul’s on Friday before the service. There won’t be a service on Boxing Day and (restrictions allowing), services from 2nd January will be ticketed and with socially distanced seating. Details will follow shortly.

This decision hasn’t been easy. After the success of our outside Carols Unplugged, we would have loved to have done something outside but the weather forecast is looking awful. Government announcements may make some of this obsolete, but we wanted to communicate this as soon as possible. We are truly sorry to have to change our plans at such short notice, but honouring others and keeping people safe must come first – and this includes the teams that make these services happen for us.

Please help to spread the word, particularly to those that don’t receive the church emails and we’ll be sharing the links to the online services as soon as they’re available. We’ll keep you informed as best you can, and if you have any questions or concerns do please feel free to get in contact with a member of the staff team.
