We see our cell as a safe place for our members to grow and explore their faith through questioning and searching deeper. We seek to shine out in to the local community and beyond, offering comfort to others during difficult times.
“The Lighthouse Cell is a blend of the spiritual, supportive and social – a sanctuary where I can be myself.”
We don’t take ourselves too seriously and enjoy organising social events that are inclusive for everyone. In the past we have hosted a Barn dance, 70’s disco and a Quiz Din event with a fish and chip supper. Our most recent events were a garden party where we invited friends to enjoy a glass of Pimms, as much tea as they could drink, and sandwiches, cake, scones, cream and jam whilst listening to a live jazz duo. We also co hosted a picnic and games afternoon at Oaks Park where young and old participated in games of cricket and rounders. A good time was had by all. Through prayer and our social events we support Cry in the Dark, a small Christian charity based in Sutton working with marginalised, disabled, and impoverished children and young people many of whom are living with life limiting illness’s including HIV, Aids , and cancer in the North East area of Romania. They have two key projects Casa Lumina (house of light) where 23 special needs young people have a home for life, and Hospice Casa Albert where a team of community nurses, a social worker, and a doctor, travel out within the community administering and teaching palliative care to over 100 patients. www.cryinthedark.org. As a cell we send out Christmas boxes to 12 young people in Casa Lumina. We have also sponsored a patient with spina bifida which has enabled them to access the amenities and meet friends at Casa Albert on a regular basis. If you’d like to visit us, we meet on a Wednesday evening from 7.15 till 9:00 pm.
