Feast in the Field is our key annual church community event. A chance to invite our friends and neighbours to join us for a fun day together. We don’t hold it to make money (which is just as well because we always spend more than we bring in!) but to create a safe space for people to spend time together, to relax and chat.
We started off the time together with a service together. A highlight this year was Lee’s story about how she had first joined Springfield Church and how she had to overcome some preconceptions about what Church is like. It was great to hear how she ended up as a follower of Jesus. You can hear her very powerful story below:
After the service it was out onto the field with our picnics and a time of sharing together and loads of fun and laughter. We had over 400 people join us for the day and we produced upwards of 200 cream teas! A magnificent effort made possible by lots of help with preparation and setting up and clearing up at the end.
We had a whole series of activities for people to join in and enjoy. Including a Giant assault course, giant scalextric course, a laser quest, a bungee run, archery, an under 5’s area, face painting, cream tea tent, ice cream van, tennis and football. We truly tried to make it have something for everyone (we even piped jazz music into the cream tea tent!).
We do hope that if you came along that you had a great time and we hope to see you again – either at Feast in the Field or one of our other activities – or indeed on a Sunday morning – you are always very welcome.
