Alpha – Explore the meaning of life

Alpha is an opportunity to ask life’s ‘big questions’ and explore the Christian faith. It’s relaxed, low key, friendly and fun. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. And it’s supported by all the main Christian denominations.

What’s involved?

Alpha looks at a series of topics, such as ‘Why and how do I pray?’. After sharing a meal and then watching a video for about 20 minutes, we divide into small groups for a time of informal discussion.

Alpha normally runs every week for twelve weeks.

You don’t have to come to all the sessions – just pop along for the first night and see what you think. No pressure.

Who is the Alpha Course for?

Alpha is for everyone, especially:

  • Those wanting to investigate Christianity
  • New Christians
  • Newcomers to church
  • Those who want to brush up on the basics

No question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.

What are the topics?

Week 2 –    Who is Jesus?
Week 3 –   Why did Jesus die?
Week 4 –   How can we have faith?
Week 5 –   Why and how do I pray?
Week 6 –   Why and how should I read the Bible?
Week 7 –   How does God guide us?
Week 8 –   How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
Week 9 –   How can I resist evil?
Week 10 – Why and how should I tell others?
Week 11 –  Does God heal today?
Week 12  –  What about the Church?
One Saturday, about halfway through, we also hold an ‘Alpha Day’ – which is a chance to take a bit more space and time than the evenings allow and explore the work of the Holy Spirit.

When will you be holding it?

Our next Alpha starts in the autumn: do fill out the form on the left of this page if you are interested and we will send you full details.

What will it cost?

Alpha is absolutely free. If you’d like to, you can make a voluntary contribution towards dinner on the evening.

Okay, I’m interested…what next?

To register or to ask any questions please fill out the form opposite.

Alternatively you can just come along on the night!

We look forward to meeting you on our next Alpha

Of course, it may be the case that you would like to do an Alpha but you aren’t able to do it with us. If that is the case then do go on over to the Alpha website and search for somewhere that runs it near you. Alpha
