“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30
How do different spiritual practices teach us more about God? What is the relationship between Spirit and law? How does what we do day-to-day enable us to meet with God? For our new autumn series, we’ll be thinking about some of these questions, drawing on the work of John Ortberg and Richard Foster, amongst others, to find out how God meets us in different spiritual habits, from prayer and meditation to celebration, slowing down, giving and service.
All of these different practices have something to teach us about how we live, practise and share our faith – and lead us to experience God’s presence and grace in new ways. We look forward to reflecting on these things on Sundays, and going a bit deeper in our midweek missional communities and cell groups.
