Sermons on “Mark”

God loves REST

God loves Rest! He rested after creation (Genesis 2.1-3), He commands us to rest (Exodus 20.8-11) and He made rest for us (Mark 2.23-28). When we feel the burden of life we can still find rest (Matthew 11:28-29), when we feel overwhelmed, Jehovah Jireh, God is enough.

He’s STILL got the whole world in His hands – Nothing New

Uncertainty is nothing new. Most of the bible was written during uncertainty and Mark 14.17-26 depicts a time of great uncertainty for Jesus and the disciples. The world might look a mess now, and times seem uncertain – but God is not. He’s STILL got the whole world in His hands.

What Would Jesus Undo? – Indifference

Jon kicks off a new series called ‘What Would Jesus Undo?’. In Revelation 3.15-20 Jesus speaks against Spiritual Indifference, a lukewarm faith, caused by self-sufficiency (v.17) and distraction (Mark 4.19). Jesus wants us to turn from indifference by welcoming him back into our lives by faith (v.19-20) and a practical way of doing this is to commit to doing something every day that requires faith.

Miracles – Healing

Jon explores miraculous healing, looking at Luke 7.1-10 and lots of other texts. Our God heals but He doesn’t heal everyone all the time, so what do we do with that? Should we continue to pray for people? Ultimately it comes down to the truth that our faith isn’t based on what God does, it’s based on who God is.
