One, the Pharisee, has spiritual pride – comparison, attention seeking, fault-finding, whereas the tax collector (the bad guy!) humbles himself before the Lord. Jesus would undo Spiritual Pride because when we’re full of ourselves there’s no room for God.

In Revelation 3.15-20 Jesus speaks against Spiritual Indifference, a lukewarm faith, caused by self-sufficiency (v.17) and distraction (Mark 4.19). Jesus wants us to turn from indifference by welcoming him back into our lives by faith (v.19-20) and a practical way of doing this is to commit to doing something every day that requires faith.
