What Would Jesus Undo? – Fake Faith

Jesus condemns hypocrisy and ‘fake faith’ in the strongest terms. It’s a pretty universal temptation to try to seem better than we are. Jane looks at the causes of hypocrisy, and examines how, through worship, God’s presence and accountability, we are more likely to be able to live authentic lives.

What Would Jesus Undo? – Spiritual Pride

Jesus tells as story of two people going into the temple to pray in Luke 18.9-14. One, the Pharisee, has spiritual pride – comparison, attention seeking, fault-finding, whereas the tax collector (the bad guy!) humbles himself before the Lord. Jesus would undo Spiritual Pride because when we’re full of ourselves there’s no room for God.

What Would Jesus Undo? – Hollow Worship

In Matthew 15.1-7, Jesus speaks against Hollow Worship. If our hearts aren’t right before God and if our worship is rule-based rather than relationship-driven, our worship is a farce. Worship isn’t about the style of music, but the condition of our hearts. How do we express worship to God? Reverence (Ps 95.6), adoration (Ps 63.4), celebration (Ps 149.3) and sacrifice (Heb 13.15)

What Would Jesus Undo? – Indifference

Jon kicks off a new series called ‘What Would Jesus Undo?’. In Revelation 3.15-20 Jesus speaks against Spiritual Indifference, a lukewarm faith, caused by self-sufficiency (v.17) and distraction (Mark 4.19). Jesus wants us to turn from indifference by welcoming him back into our lives by faith (v.19-20) and a practical way of doing this is to commit to doing something every day that requires faith.
