12 hours of prayer at Springfield on Wednesday 31st May

Pentecost celebration at Guildford Cathedral on 4th June at 6pm

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, is inviting churches to take part in a global prayer initiative called  Thy Kingdom Come
This is a 10 day prayer event, taking place between the Ascension of Jesus and Pentecost (25th May and 4th June).  Pentecost is when the disciples received the Holy Spirit, in order to be equipped to go out into the World and share the Good news of Jesus.
We are encouraged during this time to pray for the Holy Spirit to empower us as Christians and give us a passion for sharing Jesus and being witnesses. The idea is to get together to pray and ask God to equip and empower us.
At Springfield we will be holding 12 hours of prayer on Wednesday 31st May from midday to midnight.
Do come and pray for the Holy Spirit to equip you and help you be sent out into the world to share Jesus with others.  It will also be an opportunity to pray for people you know to come to know the living Jesus; your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours as well as the local community and those who are part of our church ministries.
We would love to be able to pray for every hour during this time.
Please do commit to praying for an hour and sign up online for a time slot here.  Or you can use the sign up sheet on the welcome desk on a Sunday.
There are two time slots set aside for a ‘noisy’ time of prayer from 2 until 3pm and from 8 until 10pm for those who would like to pray out loud with others, accompanied by worship songs on a CD .
During the 10 days of Thy Kingdom come, cells and missional communities might like to plan a time to pray together too. Some resources are available here to help you:

We have also been able to get tickets for a Pentecost Celebration Service at Guildford Cathedral on Sunday 4th June at 6pm.  This event is hosted by Pete Greig, worship is led by the Boileroom Ignite band and the focus of the service is to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and pray that others will come to know Him.
There are 40 tickets available, so it is essential to reserve tickets if you would like to come. Please get in touch with Sarah Miller> to make sure you have a place.
‘When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.  They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them’
Acts 2: 1-4
